Venue: Royal Derby Hospital, main reception of Therapies (entrance opposite A&E)
Day & Time: Tuesday 12.30pm - 1.30pm

It is a number of years now that the hydrotherapy pool has been made available to the branch, for which we are very grateful. Parkinson’s U.K. - Derby Branch have secured the use of the pool and changing facilities only, the sessions have never been supervised by any professional, so the participation in any of the activities is an individual decision. It is open to all members of Parkinson’s U.K. who are registered with the Derby and District branch (non swimmers are welcome).
For comfort and safety we only accommodate a maximum 15 persons per session. Unfortunately there is no spectator area within the pool area; there is a small local reception/waiting area only.
There is a great range of activities available to participants, including:
- Relaxing in the warm water
- Socialising with fellow participants
- Gentle exercises
- Water aerobics
- Catch ball
Male and Female rooms with seating, hangers and secure lockers (£1.00 refundable coin req'd).
Toilet and shower within each of the locker rooms.
There are beds within the pool area which can be curtained off to provide additional discrete changing for those requiring assistance from their carer.
Size (approx) 6 metres x 4 metres
Depth (approx) 1metres - 1.5metres
Water temperature (approx) 35°C

There are emergency pull cords around the pool and within the locker rooms, should one be pulled then. Members of the hospital staff and if necessary the “crash team” will attend.
