The Derby Branch of Parkinson's UK organise several activities throughout the week to which you are more than welcome to attend. All the activities are for people with Parkinson's and a carer. We do ask that you become a member of Parkinson's UK before joining any of the groups, but this only costs £4 a year to join. You then have access to the branch and any activities you wish to attend. Parkinson's UK Derby Branch - Monthly Branch Meetings
Branch meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month.These are social afternoons and you will be made very welcome. Parking is available.
Venue: Aston Court Hotel (opposite the railway station)

Coffee Mornings
Coffee mornings are held on the third Saturday of each month with tea & coffee provided by the branch. This is a very informal meeting and many friendships have been formed . Around 50 people now come along and share a social time together. Staff from the clinic kindly give their time to come along and open up / close, for us and we are really grateful to them for giving their time to us, to allow us to use this facility.

The Creative Challenges Group
Our Creative Group meets on Mondays and being creative is great for our well-being.

Singing Group - 'The Movers and Shakers'
Our sociable singing group meets on Thursday afternoons and it lots of fun!
Venue : Online until 12 May 2022 when new Venue will be Littleover Methodist Church ,Constable Drive Littleover DERBY DE23 6EP
Time: Singing from 1.30pm .Cafe available from 12.15pm at venue if people want to and meet buy themselves a light lunch/cuppa beforehand .

Carers' Cafe
All carers are invited to meet at the Crown Derby Cafe. Anyone can come along, as you just pay for what you have - reasonably priced choice of light lunches, sandwiches or just tea and cake, whatever you fancy. It’s a chance to chat to other carers. Parking is fine there and there are no steps to negotiate.

Tai Chi
Tai Chi classes held every Friday morning are run at the Tai Chi centre on London Road in Alvaston. Carol Gascoigne is the instructor.

sQuad
sQuad is an informal support group of working age people with Parkinson's which holds monthly meetings at St Peter's Church Centre is open to anyone interested.

sQuad Curry Night on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at The Flower Pot in Derby.

Outings
We aim to organise a couple of group outings in a calendar year and this is a great way of getting to know people as well as enjoying a diverse spectrum of activities.

HIIT
High Intensity interval Training weekly sessions with an enthusiastic and experienced PD Warrior trained Physiotherapist , Vicky Hoode Moore.
Time: Thursdays 7pm-8pm
Venue: St Peter’s Church, Derby .
Cost: Parkinson’s Derby Branch have offered to pay the room hire fee, fully supporting the purpose and development of the group, so the cost for participants is just £5 per session. Remember, your friends , adult family members, partners etc can also attend as the program can benefit all.
Please arrive a bit earlier for your first session as it will include some assessment to make sure it’s suitable for you.

Men's Group
3rd Tuesday in month.Once a month a small number of the men in our group get together-sometimes it is just for a chat and cuppa. At other times they do something like bowling or footy golf.

Dance for Parkinson's Class
Time: Wednesdays at 2pm to 3:30
Venue : West End Community Centre, Mackworth Road, Derby
No experience necessary. All abilities welcome.
Sessions cater for both seated and standing.
A registered Dance Movement Therapist and Community Dance Practitioner specialising in facilitating dance with older people with limited mobility, those living with Parkinson’s and dementia runs it. She has delivered dance projects on both national and local levels. She is a Lead Dance Artist at Derby Royal Hospital. She is also the Lead Dance Artist for the national Dance to Health incorporating dance and falls management exercises and holds a certificate in Advanced Dance for Parkinson's training.
